State of Play
Own the fragments. Influence AI answers. Keep Google.
- Define ICP → pick 2–3 high-LTV segments to prioritise.
- Map 25–50 bottom-of-funnel prompts per segment (product, alternatives, vs, pricing, integrations).
- Decide sources to influence for each prompt: Google, Reddit, YouTube, 3rd-party listicles, Docs/Help, Wikipedia/Entities.
Foundation
Make the site extractable by LLMs.
- Enable clean HTML structure: h1–h3, lists, tables, short sentences.
- Ship FAQ blocks on money pages (Answer → 2–4 lines each).
- Expose /docs and /help; remove noindex on public guides.
- Add schema: Organization, Product, FAQPage, HowTo, VideoObject where relevant.
- Create /glossary of key entities; one term = one URL; internal links from posts.
- OpenGraph + Twitter cards set across site; logo in SVG; brand color tokens ready.
- XML sitemaps split: pages, blog, docs, video; enable IndexNow or ping on publish.
Content That Gets Cited
Write for extraction, not decoration.
- Each article starts with a TL;DR list of 5–8 bullets.
- Every claim has source, stat, or example. Avoid marketing fluff.
- Use comparison tables with objective fields (price, limits, integrations, who it’s for).
- Embed product screenshots with alt text that states facts (not hype).
- Refresh high-value pages quarterly; add changelog note at top with date.
Commercial Pages (BOFU)
Where revenue lives.
- Publish: Best [Category], [Brand] Alternatives, [Brand] vs [Brand], Use-case pages, Pricing.
- Non-biased tone; include who shouldn’t use you + competitor fit cases.
- Each page links to 2+ credible 3rd-party sources; avoid orphan pages.
Entity & Knowledge Graph
Be a thing, not a string.
- Unique About page with founding date, HQ, notable investors/clients, press mentions.
- Publish a lean Wikipedia-ready fact sheet (neutral tone, sources) on your site.
- Consistent NAP across site, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, GitHub, YouTube.
Docs & Help as Proof
Answers LLMs can quote.
- One guide per integration with exact names: “Connect [Tool] to [Your App]”.
- Include hard details: limits, SLAs, error codes, API coverage, data retention.
- Breadcrumbs + anchor links; autogenerate mini ToC on top.
YouTube
Own transcripts; win a SERP slot.
- Create videos aligned to target prompts (not generic topics).
- Titles use exact intent: “Best POS for Liquor Stores (2025)”.
- Upload accurate captions; chapter markers; link to matching page.
- Add VideoObject schema on the matching page with transcript excerpt.
Seed consensus where buyers look.
- Identify 10 ranking threads via site explorer (reddit.com) → Top pages filter.
- Draft one value-first comment per thread; neutral tone; cite competitors fairly.
- Post follow-ups answering objections; add long-tail facts LLMs can lift.
3rd-Party Listicles
Inclusion = citations.
- List top 20 pages ranking for “Best [Category]”.
- Outreach for inclusion; provide objective spec sheet, logos, screenshots.
- Trade inclusions where ethical; track wins in a sheet.
Technical Signals
Fast, crawlable, stable.
- Core Web Vitals green on key pages (CLS, LCP, INP).
- No JS-blocked copy; server-render primary text; avoid infinite scroll for docs.
- Canonical, hreflang (if multi-locale), and clean pagination.
- Robots: allow /blog, /docs, /help; block staging and experiments.
Attribution & Tracking
Measure reality, not vibes.
- Add “How did you hear about us?” with AI Search / Chat option.
- Track AI mentions via your chosen tool; monitor mention rate, sentiment, share of voice.
- UTM discipline for YouTube, Reddit, listicles; route to a dedicated landing page.
Links that Matter
Quality over volume.
- Pursue links only from real brands/publications in your category.
- Deep links into BOFU and docs; 70/30 mix informational→commercial.
Governance

- Quarterly: refresh top 20 pages; update stats, prices, screenshots.
